LEADERSHIP AT AUG PREP
Aug Prep leaders live by the apostle Luke’s guidance that to whom much is given, much is expected (Luke 12:48). Leadership at Aug Prep is a “never settle,” dynamic drive to serve our students and reflect the light of Jesus. The right candidate vehemently believes excellence is possible for every student. Grounded with a desire to serve and glorify God, an Aug Prep leader challenges themself and those around them daily to reach high, energetically hurdling obstacles and getting right back up when they fall (Colossians 3:17). Leadership at Aug Prep is not easy but is rewarding, exhilarating, impactful and absolutely never dull (Galatians 6:9).

In This Role, You Will :

The Senior Director of Teaching and Learning at Aug Prep is a mission-driven, system-level leader who shapes and drives a bold, Christ-centered academic vision across two growing campuses serving K4-12 students. This role blends strategy and execution - owning outcomes for a core grade band while ensuring coherence and excellence across the full student experience. Partnering with principals and leading a team of academic leaders, this individual builds strong instructional systems, develops people, and turns data into action to accelerate student growth. It’s an opportunity to lead at scale in a high-performing, faith-filled community - where expectations are high, impact is real, and every decision is grounded in the belief that every child can achieve excellence.

[Important Note: This role leads teaching and learning across Aug Prep, with primary leadership responsibility for either grades K4-5 OR grades 6-12 but oversight of the whole. The Senior Director of Teaching and Learning will also directly manage a Director of Teaching and Learning who leads the alternate grade band, as well as the Director of Student Services. Candidates should indicate their grade-band preference in their application.]

Team and Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a senior academic leader for either the K4-5 or 6-12 division, driving clarity and coherence of Aug Prep’s academic vision while owning strategy, execution, and outcomes for that grade band across both campuses.
  • Provide system-level leadership across the full K4-12 model, ensuring coherence, alignment, and quality of teaching and learning. Partner closely with the Director overseeing the complementary grade band to deliver a seamless K4-12 experience.
  • Act as a key connector across campuses and school leaders (six principals), strengthening alignment, sharing best practices, and driving consistent implementation of Aug Prep’s academic model - without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Lead and develop key academic leaders, including the Director of Teaching and Learning and Director of Student Services, building a high-performing team grounded in accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee student services and special education through the Director of Student Services, ensuring high-quality, compliant programming across campuses and strong alignment with IDEA, DPI, Child Find, and state reporting requirements.
  • Advance instructional excellence by staying current on best practices and translating them into action at Aug Prep.
  • Clearly communicate academic vision, priorities, and progress to key stakeholders, including the board, donors, staff, and families.
  • Build trust-based relationships across the community and model a mission-driven, team-first mindset with humility, flexibility, and a willingness to serve.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership team, actively contribute to the vision and strategy of Aug Prep.

Curriculum Strategy and Implementation

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of high-quality instructional materials and curriculum, including ongoing re-evaluation to ensure alignment, rigor, and demonstrated impact on student outcomes.
  • Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum, ensuring coherence and consistency across campuses and grade bands.
  • Ensure vertically aligned, standards-based curriculum and practices (K4-12), with direct ownership of one division and shared accountability for alignment and rigor across both.
  • Partner with principals, school leaders, instructional coaches, and teachers to support strong, consistent implementation, monitor fidelity, and address challenges in execution across campuses.
  • Design and lead standards-aligned professional learning that builds instructional coherence and supports Christ-centered, rigorous, and joy-filled classrooms across Aug Prep.

Coaching and Instructional Excellence

  • Establish and sustain a culture of trust, reflective practice, and actionable feedback that drives continuous improvement across teams and campuses.
  • Ensure consistent execution of Aug Prep’s coaching model across school levels, partnering with principals and instructional leaders to strengthen planning, observation, feedback, and follow-through.
  • Build leadership capacity by coaching school leaders and instructional coaches to deliver aligned, high-impact support to teachers.
  • Ensure coaching systems are coherent and differentiated, rooted in strong relationships, shared responsibility, and targeted support that builds teacher effectiveness over time.
  • Strengthen structured teacher collaboration through a PLC model, partnering with school leaders to ensure PLCs are aligned across campuses and focused on student learning and results.

Data-Driven Instruction & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead analysis of instructional trends and student outcomes, identifying gaps across subgroups, grade levels, and content areas, and recommending strategic actions. Clearly communicate insights to leadership and teachers to drive aligned action.
  • Partner with principals and school leaders to turn data into action, modeling strong data meetings, coaching facilitation, and ensuring follow-through on instructional adjustments, interventions, and progress monitoring.
  • Oversee academic performance across campuses and grade bands, facilitating regular data meetings to analyze results, monitor progress (MAP, interim, ACT, grades), and drive clear, actionable next steps.

What We’re Looking For

  • A belief in the God-given ability of every child and a commitment to ensuring excellence for each student.
  • 7+ years of experience in education, including 3+ years in instructional leadership. Advanced degree in education, curriculum, or educational leadership strongly preferred. State teaching license not required.
  • Active participation in a Christian church.
  • A data-driven leader with a strong track record of improving academic outcomes and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear action.
  • Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and national trends related to serving diverse learners.
  • Demonstrated success building teams, coaching and developing instructional leaders and teachers, and building relationships that positively influence others toward excellence.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and professional development facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong project leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to balance big-picture priorities while driving progress toward annual goals and objectives.
  • Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
