Position Description:
The goal of this position is to provide the Fellow with several opportunities to be prepared to transition to a lead teacher position within two years. A Fellow Teacher will work closely with the Instructional Coach at their school level to develop, plan, and prepare lessons alongside the lead teachers. The Fellow Teacher will work in connection with the lead teachers in the classroom to teach, re-teach, provide small-groups, or support in other ways in a variety of classrooms. The Fellow Teacher will serve as the school level sub and provide sub coverage for daily absences. The Fellow Teacher may also be requested to cover for staff who have an extended leave. Fellows will cover a variety of academic subjects based on the needs of the school and the skillset of the employee.
Report Structure: The High School Fellow Teacher reports to the High School Principal.
A St. Augustine Preparatory Fellow will:
- Plan and execute highly engaging and academically rigorous lessons for the school level he/she is assigned.
- Seek out opportunities to integrate Biblical truth with their lessons.
- Have bi-weekly meetings with an instructional coach and implement feedback to improve their practice.
- Implement curriculum and activities to ensure that their students meet academic benchmarks and grade-level standards.
- Use academic data to modify both whole and small-group instruction in order to best meet the needs of their students.
- Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for their students, always interacting respectfully and striving to demonstrate God’s love to their students and families.
- Serve as the school level sub and provide coverage for daily absences and/or extended absences.
- Serve as an advisor (grades 6-12)
- Support with intervention/acceleration periods for the school level he/she is assigned.
- Work with instructional aides, lead teachers, and parent/community volunteers.
- Help with arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal duties.
- Attend all school-related professional development sessions and staff meetings.
- Support the school by completing other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence for each student.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Participating member in a local church.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and organization development; able to balance a focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the annual goals and objectives.
- Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
- Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of St. Augustine Prep.
