Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and Jesus-centered Assistant Director to lead the development and launch of a K-12 Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Free-Enterprise (BeLEFE) program. The role requires a strategic mindset to build the program, excellent relationship skills empowering connection and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, and a passion for the principles and merits of free markets and entrepreneurship to develop students’ inherent God given gifts and talents. A successful candidate will embrace opportunities to teach entrepreneurship and leadership classes, deeply and intentionally interweave our faith within the curriculum, and steward long-term program design for students, strategically growing the program to ensure its impact and sustainability.

What to Expect in Your First Year

This is a new role and program at Aug Prep; as strategy develops, the responsibilities and scope will naturally evolve. Below is an outline of what you can expect during your first year and beyond:

  • First Six Months: Immerse yourself in the Aug Prep community—build relationships with our team, leadership, and students while gaining a deep understanding of our culture and what’s happening both inside and outside the classroom. Conduct research, build connections, and visit similar programs nationwide to explore innovative approaches and gather best practices for shaping this initiative.
  • Months 6–12: Develop and refine a strategic plan to guide the program’s growth and ensure its long-term success.
  • Long-Term: Lead implementation of the strategic plan while continuing to build the program, increasing its scope and impact to benefit more students at both Aug Prep’s South and North campuses.

Throughout all of these periods, the Assistant Director of the BeLEFE program will also teach 1-2 related high-school courses, providing hands-on opportunities to build relationships with Aug Prep students and implement key programmatic focus areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Program Development:

  • Working closely with Aug Prep leadership and the Director of College and Career, lead the development, launch, and execution of a strategic plan for Aug Prep’s new K-12 BeLEFE (Be Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Free-Enterprise) program across the K-12 spectrum.
  • Develop a clear and compelling vision and long-term goals for the program aligned to Aug Prep’s North Star, mission, Christian faith, and curriculum objectives.
  • Research and build understanding of existing programming and partnerships aligned with this work (ex. HS government and economics curriculum; mini-economies within classrooms; partnerships with local nonprofits, etc.) seeking to connect the pieces within a broader vision.
  • Research, identify and build relationships with potential local and national partnerships that provide best practices, offer examples of success, and can support Aug Prep in the development and execution of programming.
  • Develop before- or after-school clubs and opportunities for students to participate in hands-on learning.

Program Design & Implementation:

  • Design and implement programming that builds entrepreneurial thinking, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of free market principles for Aug Prep students.
  • Plan and manage workshops, seminars, guest speaker events, and other experiential learning opportunities that connect students with real-world business leaders.
  • Develop a sequence of courses and activities that cater to varying student levels, from introduction to advanced entrepreneurial projects.
  • Establish metrics for tracking the program’s impact on students' leadership, business acumen, and entrepreneurial abilities.
  • Stay up-to-date on trends in entrepreneurship, leadership development, and education to keep the program innovative and forward-thinking.

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

  • Collaborate with school administrators and educators to integrate leadership, entrepreneurship, and free-enterprise concepts into existing curricula.
  • Teach entrepreneurship, free-enterprise, and/or leadership semester-long courses and/or modules within other courses, with a focus on developing students' critical thinking, business skills, and leadership qualities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and department heads to create lesson plans, project-based learning opportunities, and case studies that reflect current industry practices in leadership and entrepreneurship. Train and equip teachers, as needed, to support high-quality implementation of programming.
  • Mentor students through individual and group projects, helping them design and execute entrepreneurial ventures.

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as a connector across different schools (elementary, middle, high), departments, and external organizations to build a cohesive and comprehensive K-12 leadership, entrepreneurship, and free-enterprise program.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to program staff, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fostering a collaborative, innovative work environment.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, alumni, non-profits, and other stakeholders to create internship opportunities, mentorships, and partnerships for students.
  • Represent the program at external events, conferences, and industry gatherings to increase visibility and foster collaboration with potential partners.
  • Be a student and staff connector with existing Aug Prep departments and student organizations such as College and Career, NHS, Student Council etc.
  • Work with Aug Prep leadership to engage the BeLEFE Advisory Council.
  • Develop and manage the program’s budget, resources, and timelines to ensure program sustainability and effective scaling as the program grows.

Key Qualifications:

  • A belief in the God-given ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence and opportunities for Aug Prep students.

  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to grow and develop a team over time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and build relationships with various stakeholders.
